Position Summary

Join the dynamic Custodial team and help support MSU's mission of advancing knowledge and transforming lives! You'll use top cleaning metho ds, equipment, and standards in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment, ensuring MSU's facilities remain clean, safe, and beautiful.
 
Pay rate: $19.15 - $20.16 upon meeting probationary period requirements. MSU Benefits - Free comprehensive health care for you and y our family as well as a 10% contribution toward your retirement; Generous sick, vacation, personal and holiday time; This position is not eligible for remote work. Regular, in-person attendance is required to meet business and customer needs.
 
This position will work in the Natural Science building, working Monday - Friday: 4:30PM - 1:00AM. May be required to work after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
This position will perform cleaning and maintenance activities; understand and give verbal or written instructions; read chemical, biological, or radioactive warning signs; remove snow with shovel or snow blower; retain training information required for custodial methods, equipment, and products; make independent decisions to accomplish acceptable cleaning standards using appropriate methods, products, and equipment.
 
Job responsibilities are as follows: 
40% - Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, dusting, mopping, and vacuuming of hard surface and carpeted floors utilizing appropriate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, brooms. Clean and maintain assigned equipment. 20% - Clean and disinfect restrooms including showers, toilets, urinals, sinks, towel dispensers and mirrors.
20% - Dust and wash window s, mirrors, interior glass window casing and tracks, venetian blinds and ledges. Dust furniture equipment, and furnishings moving same as necessary. Empty waste containers. Collect and sort recycling materials within building.
10% - Spot wash to remove such items as splash marks a round sinks and fingerprints from light switches. Clean and polish sinks, shower heads and fountains.
10% - Correspondence through email, training, meetings and professional development.
 
This position will engage in high performing, leading edge practices, valuing people, partners and stewardship.

Minimum Requirements

  • One-year experience with commercial or institutional cleaning methods, techniques and equipment.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds is required, occasional lifting of 50 pounds.
