Job Overview The Senior Manager of Procurement is responsible for leading and managing their team to achieve all department strategic goals, distribution center metrics, and company financial objectives. This position will use KPIs to address performance, risk, and drive strategic projects. This position will partner closely with Procurement, Merchandising, Customer Care, Sales, and Supplier Relations leadership to create efficiencies and drive results. Job Responsibilities • Leads execution of procurement initiatives utilizing insights, market trends, and analytics to drive results. • Establishes buyer metric goals each quarter and holds Procurement Manager and associates accountable for performance. • Demonstrates thought and strategic leadership by designing team goals to meet department and UNFI strategic goals. • Partners with cross-functional business owners as a Procurement subject matter expert in department, regional, and enterprise-wide projects to meet strategic initiatives, including but not limited to key customers and executives. • Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure understanding and impact of process changes. • Creates solutions to close the gap on business opportunities and process inefficiencies. • Serves as a cultural champion through continuous improvement, integration, change management, and One Procurement initiatives. • Provides recommendations to Procurement Leadership to meet department goals or mitigate risk. • Collaborate with HR on personnel decisions, including hiring, termination, and performance management. • Coordinates and evaluates formal training activities and on-the-job training programs. • Promotes a culture of open communication to allow for continuous feedback. • Acts as a coach and mentor to develop competency and talent. • Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Education/ Certifications • Bachelor’s degree in business, materials management, operations management, engineering, or related field preferred. Experience • At least 5 years of procurement and/or supply chain experience. • Experience working with suppliers and/or customers. • Management experience preferred. • System Implementation Preferred. Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities • High competency level in MS Office applications. • Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain systems. • Strong understanding of procurement, logistics, and inventory management practices. • Understanding of purchasing policies and procedures. • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. • Strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to lead, train, and supervise others. • Relationship management skills. • Excellent analytical skills. • Experience in taking initiative and making appropriate, timely decisions. • Strong organizational and planning skills. • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available. Work Environment Remote Role • This position is classified as remote, where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office regularly, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
